Compatibility

  • Designed specifically for 4th generation Bosch Performance Line SX engines (models BDU3142, BDU3143).
  • Compatible with EABs equipped with a magnet on the valve (Bosch Rim Magnet) and the latest version of Bosch software.
  • Please note: Not compatible with standard magnets, ABS systems or the SpeedBox application.

Features

  • This module removes the speed limit from the electric assistance. Although the speed can be unlimited, a maximum speed of 35 km/h is recommended to minimise error codes.
  • The tuning is activated and deactivated via the WALK assist function on your VAE or by changing the assistance modes.
  • When tuning is activated, the display shows 3.5 km/h (2.2 mph) and 2.5 km/h (1.6 mph) when it is deactivated.
  • The distance travelled will be displayed correctly after a brief countdown, although the actual speed will not be displayed directly.

Installation and maintenance

  • Installation is designed to be simple, using your VAE’s original connectors, which makes the process much easier.
  • Detailed instructions and videos are available to guide you step by step.
  • We recommend that you ride a new bike for at least 10 km before activating the tuning.
  • Crucial tip: Only activate/deactivate tuning when the EAB is stationary. After each ride, leave the bike on until the display shows 0.0 km/h. It is also recommended not to update the firmware of your EAB to avoid detection of tuning.

How it works

SpeedBox 1.4 works by intercepting and modifying the signal from your EAB’s speed sensor before it reaches the motor. This makes it possible to get round the standard speed limit, by making the bike’s system believe that you are travelling at a lower speed than you actually are. For example, even if you exceed 25 km/h, the motor will continue to assist you. This process ensures smooth, continuous electrical assistance, giving you an enhanced riding experience and the ability to reach higher speeds where permitted.

Assembly of the SpeedBox 1.4 is designed to be accessible to everyone, without the need for complex tools or specific technical skills. The kit is designed to connect directly to the original connectors on your EAB, making installation almost foolproof. In general, it only takes a few minutes to connect the module between the speed sensor and the motor.
