The SpeedBox 1.6 is the solution you need if you’re looking for increased performance from your Bosch VAE. Designed for seamless integration, it allows you to optimise assistance speed without compromising the aesthetics of your bike. Ideal for trips off the beaten track or in authorised areas, this module is a real asset for a more dynamic and exciting riding experience. It’s the perfect choice for boosting your 5th generation Bosch VAE with ease.
Compatibility
- Designed specifically for 5th generation Bosch Performance Line CX engines (2-bolt mounting).
- Compatible with EABs equipped with a magnet on the valve (Bosch Rim Magnet) and the latest version of Bosch software.
- Warning: Not compatible with standard magnets, ABS systems or 4th generation motors.
Features
- This module removes the speed limit on electric assistance. The maximum speed is unlimited, but a speed of 35 km/h is recommended to minimise the risk of error codes.
- You activate and deactivate the tuning via your VAE’s WALK assist function or by pressing specific button combinations.
- An indication on the display shows whether tuning is activated or deactivated.
- After the countdown procedure, the distance travelled will be correctly displayed.
Installation and maintenance
- Installation is designed to be simple, using your EAB’s original connectors, which makes the process much easier and reduces the risk of error.
- Detailed instructions and videos are available to guide you step by step.
- We recommend that you ride a new bike for at least 10 km before activating the tuning.
- Crucial tip: Only activate/deactivate tuning when the EAB is stationary, not while riding. After each ride, leave the bike switched on until the display shows 0.0 km/h. For short stops, keep one foot on the pedal to avoid the start of the countdown. It is also recommended not to update the firmware of your EAB (disable automatic updates in the eBike Flow App) to avoid detection of tuning and preserve the SpeedBox warranty.
How it works
SpeedBox 1.6 intervenes by modifying the speed information transmitted by your EAB’s sensor to the motor. It acts as an intelligent ‘translator’, making your bike believe that you are travelling at a lower speed than you actually are (for example, 25 km/h instead of 50 km/h). This keeps the electric assistance active well beyond its usual limit. This process ensures smooth, continuous assistance, giving you an enhanced riding experience and the ability to reach higher speeds where permitted.
Assembly
The SpeedBox 1.6 can be fitted by anyone, without the need for complex tools or advanced technical knowledge. The kit is designed to connect directly to the original connectors on your EAB, making installation almost foolproof. The module is designed for motors mounted with two bolts. Comprehensive guides and video tutorials are available to help you every step of the way, ensuring that installation is quick and safe. So you’ll be ready to enjoy your bike’s new capabilities in no time.
